Answer	If you are happy to drive down to Spain you are officially allowed to use your UK registered vehicle in Spain for 6 months. However nobody seems to enforce this time limit. A problem arises when you want to use your car for a longer period in Spain as all cars from European Union need to be insured in their country of registration. However there are now some insurance companies that have Spanish branches of UK companies that will insure the car on UK plates. These insurance companies will ask you to obtain the Spanish vehicle safety inspection, the ITV, to ensure it is in safe operating condition. Remember that the ITV is not valid in the UK and if you return to the UK with your car you will need to obtain an MOT certificate immediately. If you decide to buy a car in Spain there is certainly plenty of choice with all the main manufactures, new and second hand cars for sale and the dealer will handle all the paper work for you.
