FAQ

Question How easy is it to rent a property in Spain ?

Answer I think it is quite safe to say that there is a tenant for every property but depending on the situation of your property the demand for some will be higher than others. A villa with a pool is top of the list for people looking to holiday in Spain and in the summer season you can expect to receive a rent generally in excess of £1000 per week. An apartment with a sea view with plenty of facilities nearby is always very popular. A property adjacent to a Golf course, and there are many in Spain, is always in demand for renting, especially in the winter months when it is too wet in the UK to play golf. Generally holiday homeowners use a Spanish based Rental company to look after and handle the renting out of their property. The commissions are around 15% of the rental fee and repairs, cleaning and maintenance will be extra. You will also be able to enjoy capital appreciation as your property grows in value. In today's poor stock market this is a tough deal to beat for people who choose to rent out their Costa property sporadically or regularly to help pay off the mortgage until they are ready to settle here. While you are taking in the rent money you should remember that you do have certain obligations, both to the Spanish Tax man and to your tenants. Being a landlord in Spain is not altogether without problems or risks.
